We are via 313 — a Detroit-born, Houston-raised pizzeria built on bold flavors, crispy edges, and community. Discover the story, the people, and the passion that make every via 313 pizza a little piece of Detroit in Texas.
Via 313 was born from a simple craving — the thick, cheese-edged, square-cut pizza of Detroit that no one in Austin or Houston was doing right.
Brothers Brandon and Zane Hunt grew up eating Detroit-style pizza in the Motor City. When they relocated to Austin, Texas, they missed the bold, caramelized-cheese-edge pies of their hometown. In 2011, they launched via 313 out of a humble trailer with a handful of recipes and a whole lot of heart.
"We just wanted to eat the pizza we grew up with. Turns out, a whole city of Texans wanted to eat it too."
— Brandon Hunt, Co-Founder
Today, via 313 has grown from a food trailer parked on a gravel lot to over a dozen locations across Texas — including our beloved Houston spot at Katy Freeway. Our via 313 pizza is still made the Detroit way: in blue steel pans, with dough that's fermented for 72 hours, Wisconsin brick cheese pressed all the way to the crispy, frico-style edges, and signature red stripe sauce on top.
To bring the bold, honest flavor of Detroit-style pizza to every table — built on community, crafted with integrity, and served with genuine hospitality.
Every pie we bake, every team member we hire, and every community we serve is guided by these four principles.
Every via 313 pizza is made from scratch with the same love and care we'd put into a meal for our own family. No shortcuts, ever.
From 72-hour fermented dough to Wisconsin brick cheese, we source only the finest ingredients and never cut corners on quality.
We are nothing without our neighbors. Via 313 supports local suppliers, employs locally, and gives back to the communities we serve.
We are mindful of our footprint. From compostable packaging to reducing food waste, we're committed to doing pizza the responsible way.
From a single pizza trailer in Austin to a beloved Houston institution — here's how via313 grew one crispy-edged slice at a time.
Brothers Brandon and Zane Hunt, homesick for Detroit-style pizza in Austin, decide to do something about it. Armed with family recipes, blue steel pans, and zero restaurant experience, they start planning.
Via 313 launches as a food trailer on South Lamar Blvd, Austin. The response is immediate — lines stretch before opening time. The Detroit-style square pizza unlike anything else in Texas.
Demand forces a second trailer location. Texas Monthly names via 313 one of the best pizza restaurants in Texas. The phrase "via 313 pizza" starts appearing in national food publications.
Via 313 opens its first permanent restaurant in Austin. The transition from trailer to full dining room keeps every detail of the original pizza intact — same pans, same dough, same love.
Via313 expands to multiple Austin locations and enters new Texas markets. Our catering program launches, bringing Detroit-style pizza to corporate events and weddings across the state.
Via 313 opens at 10201 Katy Fwy in Houston, bringing authentic Detroit-style pizza to the Bayou City. Houston embraces via 313 with open arms and enormous appetites.
With over 12 locations, 500,000+ pizzas served, and a franchise program opening doors nationwide, via313 is just getting started. The Detroit-style revolution continues — one crispy slice at a time.
Our team of passionate pizza makers, hospitality experts, and community builders pour their heart into every via 313 experience.
